On day one of the 2025 Paris Air Show, Japanese airline All Nippon Airways (ANA) has finalised an order with Embraer for 15 E190-E2s with options for five more. It has also ordered 27 Airbus A321neo and A321XLR aircraft.

The orders were initially announced as part of ANA’s fleet renewal program in February, but it was not yet finalised. With regards to the Embraer E190-E2, ANA will be the first Japanese operator of the Embraer E2 family when deliveries begin in 2028. This will also be the smallest aircraft that the airline operates, a title that is presently held by the Airbus A320neo.

ANA has long been looking for a smaller aircraft to fit its fleet, when it placed orders for 15 (+10 options) for the Mitsubishi MRJ – later renamed SpaceJet in 2008, with one of the test aircraft eventually even being painted in the ANA livery. That aircraft was set to compete with the Embraer E-Jet family; however, the entire program was cancelled in 2023 following a lack of commercial interest.

The airline currently operates 22 Airbus A321neos. Today’s order consists of 14 additional A321neos for ANA, with ten A321neos and three A321XLRs destined for Peach Aviation, a low cost subsidiary of ANA Holdings.
