Hanoi based low-cost-carrier VietJet has placed an order with Airbus for 100 A321neo aircraft, with options for an additional 50.
A few weeks ago the airline also ordered 40 Airbus A330-900, which are set to replace the seven A330-300s which currently serve its longer haul operations. VietJet also already operates the A321neo with roughly 25 in service, with others parked due to issues with the Pratt & Whitney PW1000G GTF engines. It also operates 17 A320ceo aircraft. Although being an all-Airbus operator, VietJet leases two Comac C909 (previously called the ARJ21) and has orders for 150 Boeing 737 MAX awaiting delivery.
