Cargo carrier Atlas Air has announced the purchase of four Boeing 777 freighter jets. According to aircraft manufacturer Boeing, the order was placed in December 2021.

The first of the four new Boeing 777F is expected to be delivered in November this year. The remaining three are to be delivered throughout 2023.

Atlas Air currently has 14 Boeing 777 freighters in its fleet that will now grow to 18 in the coming years. The airline is also the world’s largest operator of active Boeing 747 freighters. This year, the company will take delivery of an additional four 747-8 freighters, with the first delivery expected in May. These will be the final 747 aircraft produced by Boeing. The 747 production line in Everett closes in 2022.

Besides the 777F and 747F, the US-American carrier operates a fleet of Boeing 767 and 737 airplanes for domestic, regional and international cargo and passenger operations.
