After signing deals with Boeing and Embraer yesterday, Avolon has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Airbus for the purchase of 20 additional Airbus A330neo.
According to Avolon, once the MoU is firmed up, Airbus will start delivering these new aircraft in 2026, with deliveries running through 2028. Andy Cronin, Avolon CEO, commented on the well timed market for wide body aircraft and strong demand for additional aircraft. While the MoU is for the larger A330-900 variant, he also didn’t rule out the possibility of converting some of the new order into the smaller -800 variant.
Overall speaking, both Airbus CCO Christian Scherer and Andy Cronin reaffirmed a strong demand for widebody aircraft and Avolon is highly confident it can quickly place these aircraft with both new and existing customers for expansion and replacement of previous generation wide-bodied aircraft.
