Blue Air introduces first Boeing 737 Max

Romanian carrier Blue Air has taken delivery of its first Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft. The airline becomes the first Romanian operator of the 737 Max aircraft type.

The new jet, registered as YR-MXA, arrived in Bucharest on April 1st after the delivery flight from Seattle via Iceland. Blue Air plans to deploy the 189-seat aircraft on its European flight network. The aircraft is scheduled to enter service on April 2nd.

Apart from the newly delivered Boeing 737 Max jet, Blue Air already operates older Boeing 737-500, as well as previous-generation 737-700 and 737-800 aircraft. The airline will take delivery of a further nine Boeing 737 Max 8 jets by the end of 2022. The jets are on long-term lease from Air Lease Corporation (ALC).
