French maritime transport group CMA CGM has started its own cargo airline division. So far, the company only operated its transport lines on land and sea but now also expands into the air.

For its new services, CMA CGM selected the Airbus A330-200 freighter version. All in all, CMA CGM Air Cargo’s fleet consists of four Airbus A330-200F freighter aircraft that were previously in service for Qatar Airways Cargo. Two A330-200F jets are already in operation; the second aircraft has just entered service on Monday.

The airline offers flights between Liège and Chicago up to ten times per week. Additionally, New York (JFK) and Atlanta are also part of its schedule.

Flights are being conducted by Air Belgium on behalf of CMA CGM. The Belgian carrier will continue to operate its passenger flights with Airbus A340 jets. However, travel restrictions have a significant impact on these operations. Air Belgium’s services to the islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique have been paused until at least April 20.
