DHL Express has signed a firm order for nine Boeing 767-300 BCF (‘Boeing converted freighter’) aircraft. The cargo company and Boeing announced the order during the Dubai Airshow 2021 that started on Sunday.
DHL Express has already received Boeing 767 freighter jets that are mostly leased to partner airlines, including Kalitta Air, Polar Air Cargo and ABX Air. Besides the Boeing 767 freighters, DHL and its partner airlines operate Boeing 737, 747, 757 and 777 cargo aircraft. Additionally, Airbus A300, A321 and A330 freighters are also part of the fleet. The new Airbus A321 freighters are operated by SmartLynx Malta.
During the Dubai Airshow, Boeing also announced that it will open a new freighter conversion line at London Gatwick Airport. The new facility is expected to open in 2022. Boeing will modify Boeing 737-800 commercial aircraft into freighter jets at this new location.
