Emirates announced on Monday that it will be operating a seasonal Airbus A380 service between Dubai and Glasgow next year.
Scotland’s first A380
The new service, which will be launching on 16th April 2019, will be the first routinely scheduled service of an Airbus A380 to any airport in Scotland. The seasonal nature of the equipment change is to support with the planned runway closure at Dubai International Airport. Emirates normally operates a twice daily Boeing 777-300ER service from Dubai to Glasgow. With a runway out of action at DXB, frequency will initially be reduced to a single daily flight operated by the A380, and a second 777-300ER service will resume alongside the A380 from 1st June.
Emirates serves 180 destinations worldwide, and is the worlds largest operator of the Airbus A380, with 109 in service and a further 53 orders outstanding. It is also the largest operator of the Boeing 777-300ER, with a fleet of 145.
