Dutch flag carrier KLM has announced 15 firm orders for the Embraer E195-E2, with options for a further 20. The aircraft will be destined for KLM Cityhopper, the airline’s regional subsidiary, but as the order has yet to be firmed up, there is currently no initial delivery date.
KLM Cityhopper currently operates a fleet of 32 previous generation E190s, with Embraer claiming that the E195-E2 will offer a 30% fuel saving over the current E190. In addition, Cityhopper also operates 17 smaller E175 aircraft, bringing the fleet total to 49 aircraft, the largest fleet of Embraer E-jets in Europe.
