Lufthansa to start nonstop Ottawa service

Lufthansa will launch a new nonstop route from Frankfurt to Ottawa. It will be the airline’s first scheduled service to the Canadian capital.

Operating five times per week, Airbus A340-300 aircraft will be deployed on the route, starting on May 16th, 2020. Lufthansa has 16 of this aircraft type in its fleet, each A340-300 of the airline features a three-class configuration with a total of 279 seats.

The German carrier currently flies to Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver from its hubs in Frankfurt and Munich. Therefore, Ottawa will be its fourth destination in Canada.

Lufthansa’s Star Alliance partner airline Air Canada already operates a nonstop connection between the two cities. The Canadian flag-carrier uses Boeing 767-300 aircraft on the route. Air Canada also offers flights from Frankfurt to Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver, as well as a route to Calgary. Additionally, the carrier flies nonstop between Lufthansa’s second hub in Munich and Toronto.
