Qatar Airways has announced that it will commence a new service to Gaborone, the capital city of Botswana, on October 27, 2019. Botswana’s largest city will be the airline’s first destination in the African country.

The new three times weekly service from Doha to Gaborone will include a stop in Johannesburg in both directions. The Gulf carrier plans to deploy the Airbus A350-900 on the route. These aircraft feature 36 seats in Business Class and 247 seats in Economy Class.

Gaborone’s Sir Seretse Khama International Airport (IATA-Code: GBE) is currently served by only a handful of airlines, including Air Namibia, Air Botswana and Ethiopian Airlines. The latter carrier operates a service from Addis Ababa via Victoria Falls to Gaborone.
