Swiss International Air Lines, the national airline of Switzerland, has announced a wet-lease agreement with Helvetic Airways for up to eight Embraer E190-E2 aircraft on its route network from 2019 onwards.
Helvetic Airways currently operates seven Embraer E190 and five Fokker 100 aircraft. The latter will be retired next year.
Four E190 aircraft are already in a long-term service for Swiss International Air Lines as part of an ‘ACMI’ (Aircraft Crew Maintenance Insurance) partnership. Furthermore, Helvetic signed wet-lease contracts with Lufthansa.
During the Farnborough Air Show 2018, Helvetic Airways announced a ‘Letter of Intent’ (LOI) for brand new Embraer E190-E2 jets. In September, the airline finalized its order for twelve E190-E2s. The new order includes purchase rights for a further twelve aircraft. The new Embraer jets will enter service from September 2019 onwards.
