Uganda Airlines has taken delivery of its first Airbus A330-800neo aircraft, which is also the very first Airbus jet for the airline.
The Ugandan flag-carrier plans to start non-stop intercontinental operations with the new Airbus aircraft. It enables the airline to launch flights from its hub at Entebbe International Airport to the Middle East, Europe and Asia. The new A330neo can accommodate a total of 258 passengers in a three-class configuration.
Uganda Airlines is a relatively new airline; it started operations in August 2019 and is owned by the government of Uganda. Besides the new A330-800neo, with one more due to be delivered, the carrier operates CRJ-900 regional jets that were ordered during the last Farnborough Airshow in 2018.
The Airbus A330-800neo is the smaller and less popular of the two A330neo variants. While the longer -900neo version has been in service for two years, the first -800neo was only delivered in October this year.
