Brazilian airline GOL Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes has announced a new service between São Paulo and Lima in December 2019. The Peruvian capital will be GOL’s 15th international destination.
GOL plans to deploy its Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft on the route between the two cities. However, the aircraft type is currently grounded and it is not yet known when the aircraft returns to the skies.
Avianca, LATAM Chile and LATAM Brazil already offer flights between São Paulo and Lima. GOL used to operate flights to Lima as well. However, the previous service was terminated in 2009.
GOL Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes commenced operations in 2001 and is Brazil’s largest domestic airline. The airline’s hubs are located in Brasilia, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Fortaleza. Its current fleet consists of more than 120 Boeing 737 aircraft, including Boeing 737-700, 737-800 and MAX 8. The airline also has Boeing 737 MAX 10 jets on order.
